A project of Balkan Assist Association in the frames of the "You choose" campaign of the NDI

Main Goal:
Get out first-time voters in the district of Ilinden, Sofia, in the 2003 local elections

Sub Goals:
- Inform the young people about the basic notions in local government;
- Issue and spread information materials regarding the elections;
- Attract the attention of the mayor and council-member candidates towards the youth;
- Increase the awareness of the young of the community problems and development.

Content and Encompass of the Project:
The project objective is to stimulate the activeness of the citizens and, most of all, of the first-time voters in the local elections 2003 in the district of Ilinden, Sofia. The activities planned include: carry out an information campaign: meetings in the classes at schools, promotion and information materials, an inquiry on the number of young people willing to vote, a discussion forum with the candidates for mayor of Sofia, and a party.

The project is financed by the USAID under the program of the National Democratic Institute of the USA “You choose”. The other project partners are bTV, the national radio, Bulgarian Media Coalition, District of Ilinden and the schools:
