DIRECT DEMOCRACY IN YOUGHT ACTIVITIES

The objective of the project was rising the knowledge and practical skills of young people to use direct democracy methods in their activities and initiatives; stimulating the youngstres to re-discover terms as democracy, equality, participation and tolerance in the United Europe context, but also while working on a local level. Twenty youngsters from Italy, Romania, Turkey, Czech republic an Bulgaria participated in a 7-days training course. In the training program forms like referendum, public forum and community council were discussed and the European Citizen initiative was presented. Through role plays, group discussions and simulations the participants generated questions that have the potencial to be voted on a referendum in each of the countries. An expert form the Council of Minisrties administration and the mayor of the region of Izgrev, Sofia, participated as guest speakers in the training program.
