European Citizens’ Iniative in Youth Activities

The project was implemented with the financial support of the EU’s Youth in Action Programme in the period June-October 2011 in partnership with organizations from Romania, Czech Republic, Germany and Turkey.

In accordance with the programme priorities the project aimed to train 20 young active people and youth leaders from Romania, Czech Republic, Germany and Turkey in the ability to implement the new active citizenship tool, the European Citizen’s Initiative (ECI).

The main activity comprised six-day training in Sofia with the participation of experienced and competent Bulgarian and international experts. They acquainted the participants with the terms and procedures for the implementation of the European Citizens Initiative, and the tools and approaches to active citizenship and to organizing youth campaigns and initiatives. The programme included lectures, presentations and interactive training, such as working in groups, discussions, case studies and role plays, which provoked the interest and the proactive attitude of the young participants. The training programme was skilfully combined with Arts Nights and intercultural communication, and with feedback and incentive tools.
