Representatives of “Balkan Assist” Association took part in the project called “Exchange of Good Practices for the Financial Stability of NGOs” fulfilled by “Knowledge” Association - Lovech and “Pirgos” Association – Pirot, Serbia, with the financial support of “East-East” Program of Open Society Institute. In June this year representatives of 5 Bulgarian organization visited Serbia and became familiar with the successful practices Serbian NGOs have. After the visit the successful practices were analyzed and evaluated by the participants on a scale system.
Two different models of partnerships in the public sector in Serbia are presented in the current publication - the state and the regional model which offer solutions to insuring the financial stability of the non-governmental organizations.
An example of regulations on state level - this is the Serbian State Office within the framework of the Council of Ministers established in 2010 which aims at providing financial stability to non-profit organization as well as to contribute to creating partnerships between public institutions and the NGO sector.
Presentation of the State Model
The second model is that of the Regional Development Agency Eastern Serbia (RARIS), which is being efficiently implemented since 2007 its mission being to create and support the regional development of Eastern Serbia (Timok region).
Presentation of the Regional Model
The aims of both models mentioned are to encourage the proper functioning of the NGO sector as well as to coordinate and improve the operation of the civic organization on state and regional level.
The models are presented by “Knowledge” Association – Lovech with the financial support of East–East Program - “Partnership Beyond Borders”.
